Chennai, Dec 7 (PTI) The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu andPuducherry today said advocates who have failed to subscribeto the Bar Council of India Advocates Welfare Fund (BCIAWF)will not only be suspended till they make the payment, butalso become ineligible to vote or contest in the election.

Addressing reporters here with regard to the arrears ofsubscription towards BCIAWF to be paid, Advocate General VijayNarayan, also Chairman of the Special Committee of the BCTPsaid as far as electoral rolls are concerned, the BCTP foundthat 9,249 lawyers, enrolled before 1993, have not subscribedto BCIAWF.

The BCTP has asked them to subscribe and become membersof the BCIAWF.

The lawyers can verify it and make the payment, he added.
