New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI) A Delhi court today issued aproduction warrant against a British national, in custody oncharges of allegedly recruiting youths for al-Qaeda tocarry out terror activities, after the NIA sought his presencein the court.

Shamiun Rahman, who is of Bangladeshi origin and againstwhom the warrant was issued for tomorrow, was arrested inSeptember by the Delhi Police for his alleged involvement inrecruiting Rohingya Muslims for the terror outfit and trainthem to fight against the Myanmarese army.

District Judge Poonam A Bamba directed the Tihar CentralJail authorities to produce the 27-year-old accused before thecourt after an application was moved by National InvestigationAgency (NIA) seeking his physical presence before the court,which was supported by the advocate for the accused also.

The case was recently transferred from the Delhi policeto the NIA.

The accused had moved an application before a city courtalleging that he was sexually harassed by the jail securitypersonnel and inhuman behaviour was meted out to him by them.

The court had sought a response from the jail authoritieson that application.

The Special Cell of the police had earlier alleged thatthe process of radicalisation of Rahman alias Raju Bhai beganin a jail in London where he was lodged on charges of rashdriving.

During this period, he stayed at various madrassas inKishanganj (Bihar), Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), NCR and otherplaces, the Delhi police had said, adding that the accused hadplans to set up base in Mizoram or Manipur to train theradicalised youths.

An FIR was filed by the special cell after his arrestunder various provisions relating to the stringent UnlawfulActivities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act and Passport Act. PTI UKARC.
