Amritsar, Dec 7 (PTI) Czech Republic Ambassador MilanHovorka today met Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to discussinvestment opportunities in Punjab, particularly in the fieldof manufacturing.
Hovorka, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation,evinced keen interest in investing in Punjab and also settingup a large manufacturing unit, an official release said.
The chief minister pointed out that the state wasoffering the "cheapest industrial power in the country", witha fast-growing solar power base.
He cited the new industrial policy, unveiled recently byhis government, aims at making the state more businessfriendly.
Noting that the Czech Republic was one of the world'sfastest growing economies, the Ambassador said his country waslooking at harnessing the opportunities offered by Punjab inthe areas of electronics, food processing, defencemanufacturing, IT, hospitality, entertainment and media.
His country was also keen to set up a large manufacturingunit in the state, the envoy added.
The Ambassador further offered unique 15-seater aircraftfor boosting regional mobility in Punjab, saying these planescan take off from any terrain, from mobile airports that canbe set up in remote areas.
The chief minister directed his officials to take theCzech ambassador's suggestions forward through furtherdiscussion. PTI SUNMR.
