New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI) The CBI has booked an assistantVAT officer of union territory of Daman and Diu for allegedirregularities in her appointment to the post withoutfulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria, the agency'sofficials said today.

Apexa Damania was booked and the CBI has also includedunidentified officials of Daman and Diu in the FIR whichindicates that some more officers are under the scanner of theagency, they said.

These officers have been accused of criminal conspiracyand violation of provisions of prevention of corruption act inthe FIR, they said.

The FIR of the agency alleged that in response to anadvertisement seeking application for Assistant VAT officerfor Daman and Diu, 15 persons including Damania had applied in2014.

It is alleged that Damania had appeared for finalsemester of LLB examination in 2015.

The agency alleged that although she had submitted herexperience certificate she was ineligible for appointment asher minimum educational qualification was not complete at thetime of her appointment.

"...Damania despite not being eligible for the post ofAssistant VAT officer was selected for the said post andoffered employment by the unknown officers of the UTAdministration of Daman and Diu by abuse of their officialposition as public servants in conspiracy with Apexa Damaniaand thereby caused undue pecuniary gain to Apexa Damania," theFIR alleged.
