Kapurthala, Dec 7 (PTI) Kapurthala police said today thatthey have suspended four policemen, including a sub-inspector,for security lapse during the visit of Punjab Chief MinisterAmarinder Singh to an Army cantonment here on Wednesday night.

Kapurthala SSP Sandeep Sharma said the four policemenwere on a vehicle ahead of the police pilot, and the driver oftheir vehicle was driving rashly, ignoring the instructions ofDSP (Detective) Sohan Lal, who was commanding Singh's convoy.

The SSP said over phone that this created confusion andthe chief minister's convoy could not find way for a while tocome out of the cantonment situated on the Kapurthala–Hamiraroad.

Sharma said the confusion was resolved soon with otherpolice officers making a headway to come out of the cantonmentarea.

Singh on Wednesday evening visited the Army cantonment toparticipate in the platinum jubilee celebrations of the SikhRegiment.

He had made a brief stopover at the residence of PunjabIrrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh here beforeattending the event. PTI Cor SUNABH.
