Mumbai, Dec 7 (PTI) Mumbai police today arrested a38-year-old auto rickshaw driver for killing his wife.
The woman's body had been found on a beach in Juhuarea yesterday.
Prabhuprasad Saha, the accused, had married the victimShakuntala Sharma over one and a half years ago, a seniorpolice official said.
According to police, Saha, resident of suburbanVersova, found the door of his house locked from inside whenhe returned home on Tuesday night. He knocked several timesbut got no response as his wife was asleep.
He entered the house through ventilator hole and in afit of rage hit Shakuntala with a blunt object which killedher, police said.
He then stuffed her body in a bag and dumped it in adrain in suburban Oshiwara.
The body was swept to a beach yesterday and wasspotted by a passerby.
Police identified the body from a tattoo and inquiryrevealed that Saha had killed her, police added.
Saha was arrested today under IPC sections 302(murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence). Further probe ison. PTI AVIKRK.
