Muzaffarnagar (UP), Dec 7 (PTI) A fast-track court todaysentenced a 25-year-old man and his mother to 10-yearimprisonment for burning his wife to death over dowry inneighbouring Shamli district in 2015.
Fast-track court judge Ombir Singh also imposed a fine ofRs 15,000 each on the convicts -- Mohit and his motherBasmati.
According to the prosecution lawyer, Punam was burnt todeath by her husband and in-laws when she failed to meet theirdowry demand at Lachmanpura village under Jhinjhana policestation in Shamli district in western Uttar Pradesh on May 15,2015, two years after her marriage. PTI CORRSMN.
