Kohima, Dec 7 (PTI) MLAs, MPs and former lawmakers ofNagaland today appealed for a solution to the vexed Nagapolitical problem before the state Assembly elections dueearly next year.
The MLAs, MPs along with ex-MLAs and former MPs madethe appeal during a closed door consultative meetingcalled by the Nagaland Assembly Speaker Imtiwapang Aier,at the Regional Center of Excellence in Music and PerformingArts, Jotsoma.
A copy of the resolution passed in the meeting saidthe lawmakers placed on record their deep sense ofappreciation for all the positive steps taken by theGovernment of India (GoI) and the stake holders so far inseeking to arrive at an honourable and acceptable solution tothe Naga political issue.
"Urges the GoI and other stake holders engaged indialogue to resolve the issue well before the next stateAssembly elections", they resolved.
The MLAs and MPs also appealed to the ElectionCommission of India to conduct the elections to the 13thNagaland Legislative Assembly only after an honourable andacceptable solution is reached with regard to the vexed Nagapolitical issue, the resolution said.
They also urged the members of the present Assembly topass resolution on similar lines during the ensuing wintersession, scheduled for December 14 and 15, it said.
Today's resolution was appended by Nagaland AssemblySpeaker, Chief Minister TR Zeliang and president ofEx-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland, T Khongo. PTI NBSRG.
