Indore, Dec 7 (PTI) A head clerk and a peon workingwith Shahpur Nagar Parishad in Burhanpur district were todayallegedly caught by the Lokayukta police while taking a bribeof Rs 15,000 from a contractor.
Acting on the contractor's complaint, the anti-corruption sleuths laid a trap and caught head clerk SheikhIshaq and peon Rajesh Bharti at the Nagar Parishad's office,deputy superintendent of police Praveen Baghel said.
The clerk took the bribe through Rajesh, the DSP said.
The contractor had carried out the work of erectingelectric poles, for which the Nagar Parishad owed him Rs Rs5.35 lakh.
The accused had demanded Rs 15,000 from him to clearthe payment.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act wasregistered against the duo. PTI HWP MAS LALKRK.
