JammuJammu, Dec 7 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Tribal AffairsMinister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today ordered a magisterialprobe into the violence during a recent anti-encroachmentdrive in Jammu city in which five cops and a photo-journalistwere injured, an official said.

Speaking at a meeting here, Ali asked the districtadministration to conduct an inquiry into the incident andasked officers to identify those responsible and takeappropriate action against them, an official spokesman said.

The government had earlier issued transfer orders for aStation House Officer (SHO) for withdrawing police personnelfrom the spot in the Gole Gujaral area during the drive.

On Monday, five policemen, including three officers, anda photo journalist sustained injuries in clashes withresidents during an anti-encroachment drive in the city.

Locals carrying rods, sticks and bricks, attacked theanti-encroachment team after they razed a structureconstructed illegally on a plot of land owned by the JammuDevelopment Authority.

The minister also asked the officers concerned to conducta survey about the status of nomadic population in theirrespective districts within two months so that a comprehensivepolicy could be framed to rehabilitate them, the spokesmansaid. PTI ABIJT.
