New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI) Rice basmati prices rose by Rs 100per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on emergenceof stockists buying against restricted supplies from producingbelts.

However, wheat remained weak on ample stocks position.

Traders said stockists buying against restricted arrivalsfrom producing regions mainly led to rise in rice basmatiprices.

Some enquiries from rice mills also supported theupmove,they said.

In the national capital, rice basmati common andPusa-1121 variety edged up by Rs 100 each to Rs 7,800-7,900and Rs 6,300-6,400 per quintal respectively.

On the other hand, wheat dara (for mills) shed anotherRs 10 to Rs 1,800-1,805 per quintal. Atta chakki deliveryfollowed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs1,805-1,810 per 90 kg.
