New Delhi, Dec 7 (PTI) A 29-year-old man was arrested forallegedly decamping with Rs 8 lakh his employer had given himto deposit in a bank, police said today.

On December 4, one Vikas Kumar approached the Nehru Placemetro police station with a complaint, they said.

Kumar, a manager with a restaurant cum bar, gave Rs 8lakh to Jiwan Thapa, who worked as a servant at the restaurantto deposit it in a bank, the police said.

He alleged that Thapa fled with the amount withoutdepositing it in the bank, they said.

Various teams were constituted to trace the accused, thepolice said.

On the basis of a tip-off, Thapa was nabbed from Nanparain Bahrain while trying to go towards Nepal on December 6,Pankaj Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro), said.

The stolen amount was recovered from him, he said.

Thapa had left his home in Nepal 13 years ago. Since thenhe has been living in Delhi on rent, the DCP said.

Later, to meet his growing expenses, he decided to committhe crime and wanted to escape to Nepal for doing business byusing the money, he added. PTI SLBKJ.
