(Eds: Removing a word in the second last para)New Delhi, Dec 19 (PTI) A 39-year-old man, who was beatenup by a group of men in east Delhi's Madhu Vihar for enteringtheir lane, has succumbed to injuries, the police said today.

Kanti Prasad (39), who was injured in the December 15incident, died yesterday during treatment, they said.

Prasad along with his 17-year-old son and friends Gautam(34) and Jitender (38) went to his elder brother's houselocated in a lane near the Mandawli police station on the dayof the incident.

He was having a tiff with his brother over a familyissue and had gone to sort it out.

Prasad had entered the house while his friends waiteddown stairs. However, they were asked to meet one Mehboobalias Dhauwaa, they said.

They felt suspicious and while Jitender went, Gautamstayed back and called Prasad.

The deceased, his son, Gautam went to the corner of thelane where they found Jitender being beaten up by a group ofthree-four men, the police said.

They also attacked Prasad, his son and Gautam. The groupof men thrashed the trio and even threw chairs at them.

The accused threatened to kill them, saying, "you arecoming to our lane to create nuisance and we will not spareyou", the police said.

Jitender was shot at when he was trying to flee fromthere. He suffered a bullet wound in his hand. The police wereinformed and one of the accused Mehboob was arrested.

Prasad and the others were admitted to a hospital andwere discharged after treatment.

However, Prasad was admitted again on December 17 withinternal injuries. He died yesterday.

Police said that they have identified the other accusedwho are at large. PTI SLBANB.
