Mumbai, Nov 9 (PTI) Before settling down to thedemands of parenthood, more and more pregnant women prefer togo on a 'babymoon' to relax, according to a survey.

As per the survey, about 82 per cent of the womencovered by it said they wish to go on a 'babymoon' and themost preferred time is the second trimester.

The survey by travel company Cox & Kings was conductedin metro cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru andKolkata, among 1,000 females comprising both pregnant womenand new mothers.

Babymoon is a term that refers to a brief vacationtaken by would-be parents to relax and travel before the babyis born.  About 72 per cent of the new mothers had opted for ababymoon during their pregnancy as they feel it offers a greatwindow to have a child-free getaway, the survey revealed.

Given a choice, 65 per cent of women wish to take aninternational babymoon trip, it added.

A majority of the would-be mothers, 77 per cent, wantto go with on a babymoon with their husbands and not theentire family, it said.

Further, it revealed that beach destinations are themost preferred for 88 per cent of the women as it offersleisure walks on seafronts and scenic views.

The topmost priorities for the couple while planningthe babymoon trip are safety, duration of travel and medicalhelp, it added. Goa, Jodhpur, Maharashtra and Kerala topped the listof most preferred domestic babymoon destinations, whereasSeychelles, Thailand, Dubai and Sri Lanka were the mostpreferred international places, it found.

Cuisine remained one of the most important aspects ofsuch a vacation with 65 per cent of the babymooners wanting totaste local food over carrying packaged food or taking a chefalong, the survey said.

A majority of pregnant travellers (75 per cent) wouldchoose custom-made tours over group trips mostly at all-inclusive resorts, it added. PTI SMRSY.
