Khan, two others, say policeJaipur, Nov 14 (PTI) Two persons were arrested forallegedly killing 35-year-old Umar Khan who was found deadnear railways tracks in the Ramgarh area of Alwar district,police said today.

The police have also lodged a cow smuggling case againstUmar Khan, and two other persons, Tahir Khan and Javed,officials said.

"Bhagwan Singh Gurjar alias Kala and Ramveer Gurjar,residents of Markapur area, were arrested for killing UmarKhan. They were arrested late yesterday night," SP Alwar RahulPrakash said.

The two were being interrogated and a hunt is on for theother accused, he said.

Asked whether the accused were robbers or cow vigilantes,Prakash said that there was "no term like cow vigilante" inpolice vocabulary.

It is a murder case and we are working to arrest theaccused involved in the case, he said.

Umar Khan's body was found near railway tracks in Ramgarhon November 11, with his family members and activists allegingthat he was shot dead by cow vigilantes when ferrying cattlein a vehicle the day before.

The incident, which came months after the lynching ofdairy farmer Pehlu Khan by suspected cow vigilantes in Alwar,triggered an outrage.

The Alwar SP said that two cases were lodged inconnection with the Umar Khan case.

The first was lodged after the pick-up van with cattlewas traced at Govindgarh.

"It was a clear case of cow smuggling and we lodged acase for the same," he said.

The second is a case of murder after Umar Khan'srelatives lodged an FIR, he said.

Govindgarh police station officials said that a case wasregistered against Umar Khan, Tahir Khan and Javed on chargesof cow smuggling.

Meanwhile, the post-mortem of Umar Khan's body could notbe performed even today. SMS Hospital superintendent, Dr D SMeena, said that the post-mortem could not be performed by themedical board as Umar Khan's family members did not turn updespite several attempts.

The deceased's family members are camping in Jaipur afterthe body was referred to SMS Hospital here from Alwar.

"No one should die the way my nephew did. We have metsenior police officials and will be meeting officials of thechief minister's office today to take up the case," RazzakKhan, uncle of Umar Khan said.

He said that Umar Khan's parents are elderly and couldnot come to Jaipur.

The state government should compensate them with Rs 50lakh and Rs 25 lakh to the kin of Tahir Khan who sustainedbullet injury on November 10 incident, Razzak Khan said.

He said that Tahir Khan had informed that on their wayback home they were attacked by six to eight people. Theassailants opened fire in which Umar Khan was shot dead andTahir Khan sustained injuries, he added. PTI AGADS.
