Aden, Nov 14 (AFP) A bombing hit a security post inYemen's government bastion of Aden today, killing and woundingseveral people, witnesses and police sources said.

Witnesses in the southern Aden province told AFP theyheard a loud explosion followed by gunfire at the main officeof UAE-trained security forces in charge of guarding state-owned facilities.

They said 10 people had been killed in the attack andmore wounded. The number of casualties could not be confirmedby government sources.

It was not immediately clear how the bombing was carriedout. One police source said it appeared that explosives in avehicle had been remotely detonated during the attack. Anothersaid there had been a suicide bomber inside the car.

The Zayed bin Sultan mosque, which is located near thesecurity office and funded by the UAE, was also damaged in theattack.

The United Arab Emirates, which has trained governmentforces in southern Yemen, is a key member of a Saudi-ledmilitary coalition fighting alongside the government.

Yemen's war pits the Saudi-backed government of AbedrabboMansour Hadi against former president Ali Abdullah Saleh andhis Huthi rebel allies.

A major attack on Aden on November 5 killed 35 people,sparking a hostage crisis in a city that had seen a period ofrelative calm in the war-torn country. The Islamic State groupclaimed the attack.

The Yemen war has killed thousands, pushed the country tothe brink of famine and allowed Al-Qaeda in the ArabianPeninsula and IS to flourish in government-held southernYemen.(AFP)AMS.
