Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 14 (PTI) Amidst mounting pressurefor the resignation of Transport Minister Thomas Chandy,the ruling CPI(M) today made it clear that the party would notmake any compromise in dealing with those who violate the law.

Thomas Chandy is facing allegations of large-scaleviolation of the Kerala Land Conservation Act and Conservationof Paddy Land and Wetland Act by a tourist resort run by WaterWorld Tourism company at Alappuzha, in which he is a boardmember.

"There will not be any compromise on lawbreakers if thecharges are proved true," CPI(M) State Secretary KodiyeriBalakrishnan told reporters on matters connected with Chandy.

"Action would be taken after legally examining theissue," Balakrishnan said adding legal advice of the advocategeneral has been received on the same.

"The legal advice was being examined and LDF hasentrusted Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with taking adecision on it," he added.

Balakrishnan further said everyone has to abide by thedecision of the Chief Minister, which was also applicable toNCP, whose nominee is Chandy in the cabinet.

Attacking the former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy overthe solar scam probe report, Balakrishnan said Congress leaderV M Sudheeran should ask Oommen Chandy who 'blackmailed' him.

Balakrishnan made the comments in the backdrop ofSudheeran criticising the LDF government over the ThomasChandy issue.

The Left party leader also said his government wouldneither protect any offenders nor crucify the innocent.

Hitting out at the BJP-led NDA government at the CentreBalakrishnan alleged that the agriculture sector in thecountry has been handed over to corporates and the nation wasnow encountering the "disastrous" fallout of it.

He further alleged that farmers in the country weresuffering as farm products have no fixed price forcing them towithdraw from farming.

Agriculture can be promoted only by providingencouragement and realising this CPI(M) has come out in opento extend support to farmers, he said. PTI JRK ROHDV.
