Los Angeles, Nov 14 (PTI) Stand-up comedian Marc Maronsaid he always knew about Louis CK's behviour towards women,but the disgraced comic continued to deny.
Before the five women came forward to accuse C K ofsexual misconduct, in a New York Times expose, Maron said hepreviously addressed the rumours with C K himself, whorubbished them.
"Sadly, I knew what most people knew. There was a storyout there, I guess going back several years, there wereunnamed people in the story, it took place in a hotel room inAspen.
"It was always out there, but then it would pick upmomentum at different times. And I would ask him about it. Iwould say, 'This story about you forcing these women to watchyou jerk off, what is that, is that true?'" Maron said onMonday's episode of his podcast, "WTF, Maron."Maron detailed their discussion. "He goes, 'No, it's nottrue. It's not real. It's a rumour.' And I would say, 'Well,are you going to address it somehow? Handle it? Get out fromunder it whenever it shows up?' 'No I can't, I can't do that.
I can't give it life, give it air.' That was theconversation.""So I believed my friend. It's just the environment thatenabled the dismissiveness of it," Maron said.
C K confirmed the stories on Friday and apologised.
In the wake of the scandal, Indie distributor The Orchardcancelled the November 17 release of C K's film "I Love You,Daddy," while Netflix scrapped a planned comedy special, andHBO announced it would remove all programs from the comedianoff its platforms.
FX and 3 Arts Entertainment also cut ties with C K, andUniversal Pictures and Illumination have terminated theirrelationship with the comedian for the sequel "The Secret Lifeof Pets 2." PTI SHDSHD.
