(Eds: Removing two words in Para 1)New Delhi, Nov 14 (PTI) To coincide with Children's Day,HarperCollins India today announced the launch ofits new imprint for children's books.

Under this imprint, HarperCollins India will publish arange of books across age groups and genres, from picturebooks and chapter books for younger readers, to middle gradeand young adult fiction, non-fiction, biographies, activitybooks and more.

The books in the new imprint include "Meet Zippy", thefirst book in the Zippy series with Zippy the zebra and hisfriends, for children who are learning to read, by author-illustrator Anitha Balachandran.

The first book in the "Flipped Anthology" series is abundling together of Funny and Scary Stories by several well-known children's writers. The books in the series will includetwo themes, two covers and two sides to open the book from,and the reader gets to choose.

Also on the list are "What Maya Saw: A Tale of Shadows,Secrets, Clues" by popular children's author Shabnam Minwallaand books by legendary authors like Ruskin Bond and Gulzar.

"It is exciting to launch the imprint in India and addsome local colour to our wonderful list of authors and books.

And there couldn't have been a better time to do this,” saysTina Narang, Publisher, HarperCollins Children’s Books.

"The children's segment in India is currently at fullthrottle with the number of publishing houses for childrengrowing, more mainstream publishers publishing for childrenand more Indian authors writing for children," she says.

"By providing a vibrant mix of titles in this first listand setting the course for various series, we hope that goingforward our children's list will be awaited eagerly by youngand old alike," Tina adds.

HarperCollins Children's Books is also launching a 'FunLearning And Play' box series called the FLAP activity seriesfor age group 4-12 years. The boxes range from early learningsets that teach basic concepts such as the alphabet, numbers,colours and shapes, to those that celebrate the festivalseason, birthdays, friendship and more.
