New Delhi, Nov 14 (PTI) Tata Motors today said it hasjoined hands with Energy Efficiencies Services Ltd (EESL) forimplementing energy saving measures across its manufacturingfacilities in India.

As per a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between thetwo parties, EESL will implement energy efficiency programmesin Tata Motors' manufacturing plants at Pantnagar, Lucknow andPune in the first phase, and will be later extended to otherfacilities, the company said in a statement.

"EESL will undertake the complete upfront investment forthe energy efficiency programme, with zero investment fromTata Motors. The overall implementation period for theprogramme will be two years," it said.

Commenting on the initiative, Tata Motors CEO and MDGuenter Butschek said, "By implementing energy efficientsolutions, we are accelerating our efforts to reduce ourcarbon footprint in the form of lower greenhouse gasemissions, towards a cleaner future." EESL Managing Director Saurabh Kumar said the MoU is bigstep towards companies proactively adopting simple yeteffective measures.

"Indian businesses are increasingly adopting energyefficiency measures and are significantly contributing to theefforts of the government," he added.

Last month Tata Motors had bagged order from EESL tosupply 350 electric cars, while rival Mahindra & Mahindra willsupply 150 electric cars. PTI RKLMR.
