Srinagar, Nov 15 (PTI) Fire broke out in the reveredKhankah-e-Moula shrine here early today, damaging the spire ofthe building, officials said.
The incident took place in the shrine, built in memory ofrenowned Sufi saint Mir Syed Ali Hamdani in downtown area ofthe city, around 1 am, the officials of Fire and EmergencyDepartment said here.
As many as 22 fire tenders along with pumps weredispatched to the spot immediately to douse the flames, theysaid.
The fire was brought under control with the help of thelocals, but by then it had damaged the spire of the shrine,the officials said, adding timely intervention saved theshrine from further damage.
The cause of the fire is being ascertained, the officialsadded. PTI SSB MIJDIP.
