Aizawl, Nov 15 (PTI) No illegal settlers fromneighbouring countries have been detected in Mizoram since2012 till date, state Home minister R Lalzirliana informed theAssembly today.
Replying to a query from Lalruatkima of the oppositionMizo National Front (MNF), Lalzirliana said that no reports ofillegal immigrants entering Mizoram and settling down herehave been received by the government.
Central para-military forces were deployed to guardthe international borders, he said, adding that whileMizoram-Myanmar border areas were guarded by the Assam Rifles,and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were deployed alongthe Mizoram-Bangladesh border.
He said that Mizoram has 722 kilometre longinternational border with Myanmar (404 km) and Bangladesh (318km). PTI HCVRG.
