Kolkata, Nov 28 (PTI) Trinamool Congress MP and ChiefMinister's Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee todayfiled a criminal defamation suit against BJP leader Mukul Royat a city court for commenting that 'Biswa Bangla' is not agovernment entity but a company owned by him.
Roy had made the remark at a public meeting earlierthis month.
"I have filed a defamation case. The matter issub-judice. Please wait for the verdict. I have full faith inthe judiciary. People of Bengal have already given them abefitting reply in the ballot box, now wait for the court todo the same," Banerjee, who is also Trinamool Congress'youthwing chief, told reporters.
Abhishek moved the City Sessions Court, a day after acourt in Alipurduar district showcaused Roy, who recentlyswitched over to the BJP, for allegedly violating an orderpassed by it.
"This is an attempt to destroy my goodwill with lies.
If any allegations are proved correct, I will quit politics.
Else Mukul Roy should leave the state," Banerjee said insidethe court.
Last month, the court had restrained Roy from makingcomments against the West Bengal Chief Minister MamataBanerjee's nephew regarding two organisations — Biswa BanglaMarketing Corporation Limited and Jago Bangla Media PrivateLimited. PTI SCHJM.
