Bhubaneswar, Oct 12 (PTI) The Odisha government todaysaid it may declare drought in some regions since at least 98of the state's 314 blocks are experiencing a dry spell due todeficient rainfall during monsoon this year, officials said.
The declaration may be done on October 31, they said.
"We have asked the district collectors to submitreports on the crop loss due to deficient rainfall by October22. The state government may go for declaring drought in someregions on October 31 keeping in view the prevailingsituation," chief secretary A P Padhi said.
Padhi said 98 blocks in different districts have beenhit due to deficient rainfall.
"The situation in Bolangir, Baragarh and Nuapada isstated to be worst among the districts. However, thegovernment will consider declaring drought after gettingreports from the collectors," Padhi said. PTI AAMSBN.
