Cuttack, Oct 13 (PTI) The Orissa High Court today refusedbail to self-styled godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Roul ina case of alleged assault and cheating of a girl and hermother.
The girl and her mother had lodged a complaint againstRoul in October 2015, two months after he was arrested byOdisha Police for his alleged indulgence in criminalactivities and cheating people by misusing religiousand spiritual practices.
The self-styled godman was booked in another case ofissuing threats to a woman medico, who was one of hisfollowers.
The Supreme Court had already granted him bail in thewoman medico case and the Orissa High Court had allowed hisbail application in August after imposing stringentconditions.
He is still behind the bars as his bail application inthe assault case was rejected by the apex court in Februarythis year.
Roul had tried to secure bail in the case from thedistrict court here on the grounds that the trial in the casehas not yet begun. When the district court turned down hisplea last month he had approached the high court.
Justice J P Das after hearing the bail plea of Roultoday, rejected his application once again observing thatthere had been no change in the scenario after his bail wasrejected by the apex Court eight months ago. PTI COR SKN KKZMN.
