Kolkata, Oct 13 (PTI) The West Bengal government haspromised a job to the father of the sub-inspector who waskilled by alleged supporters of the GJM chief Bimal Gurungtoday in a forest near Darjeeling, where Gurung was supectedto be hiding.

West Bengal police sub-inspector Amitabha Malik'sfather would be provided a job at the state school department,state education minister Partha Chatterjee said.

"This is a very sad incident. Police will do theneedful as per the rules for his wife. And since his father isnot that old we have decided to provide him with a job at theschool department," Chatterjee said.

Rs five lakh will be given to the bereaved family fromthe Chief Minister's Fund, the minister added.

According to CMO sources, Chief Minister MamataBanerjee had spoken to the dead police officer's father in theafternoon.

Chatterjee along with another minister and DirectorGeneral of Police Surajit Kar Purakayastha will receive thepolice officer's body at the airport tomorrow, the sourcessaid. PTI SCH KKKK.
