Mumbai, Oct 13 (PTI) With huge arrival of kharif crops,Maharashtra has directed APMC mandis in the state to ensurebusiness is conducted without any disruption else action willbe taken, as per an official order.

Market functionaries including commission agents andtraders have been asked not take long holidays except for thedays between October 19 and October 22 for Diwali, it said.

"In Kharif season 2017-18, there is large arrival ofagricultural produce in various AMPCs in the state. Hence itis most necessary to continue the business of sale purchase inthe market committees on day to day basis without interruptionin the favour of agriculturists," Maharashtra Director ofMarketing Anand Jogdand said in the order.

All Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs) shouldcontinue with the business of sale-purchase withoutinterruption, he said.

"These directions shall be implemented scrupulously byall APMCs," Jogdand said and warned of serious action if anymarket functionary shuts business and violates thesedirections.

The directive has been issued as it was observed thatcommission agents, traders and other market functionariesavail long term holidays during the season in some of themandis in the state and the business remains closed withoutsufficient reason. PTI LUXABM.
