New Delhi, Oct 13 (PTI) As competitive forces likeartificial intelligence and machine learning shape the futureof work in India, leadership roles have to evolve and the topbrass are expected to be watchful about long-term perspectiverather than short-term pressures, says a PwC report.
According to the report by PwC India, titled 'Reimaginingleadership: Steering India's workforce in 2030', futureworkplace will be characterised by competing and conflictingpriorities and demands of its key constituents - organisation,employee, CEO and HR.
While emotional and cognitive intelligence have proved tobe critical to leadership success in the past, in the futureworkplace, 'learning intelligence' will be the new leadershipedge, the report said.
"Traditional models of development are no longersufficient to help leaders act fast and effectively inunpredictable circumstances; organisations will need toreimagine the talent development experience at the top of thepyramid in much the same ways as they do in the customerexperience," PwC India People and Organisation PartnerChaitali Mukherjee said.
In the future workplace in India, the CEO will have tofocus on differentiating human capabilities and striking theright balance between humans and machines/bots.
On the other hand, HR will become the guardian of thebrand, focusing on creating the right culture and protectingthe organisation against sustainability and reputationalrisks, the report noted.
"It is the responsibility of the leader to look into thefuture when making decisions, to ensure they are solving theimmediate problems, while also preparing their organisationfor the future," said Blair Sheppard, Global Leader – Strategyand Leadership Development, PwC. PTI DRRANU.
