Aizawl, Oct 13 (PTI) A court here today sentenced a manto life imprisonment for murdering his wife and sent hisbrother to jail for two years for helping him dispose of thebody of the victim.
Aizawl district Additional Sessions Judge-IIVanlalenmawia passed the order and instructed the membersecretary of the Mizoram State Legal Service Authority to payRs two lakh to the victim's mother as compensation.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the man andRs 5,000 on his brother.
The man had killed his wife with a hammer when she wasasleep, following a heated argument with him on the night ofAugust 10, 2013. He had then mutilated the body and called hiselder brother to help him dispose it of.
The body was stuffed into two bags, which were throwninto a gorge used for garbage disposal, around 16 km fromhere.
The bags were subsequently found by the members of anadventure club and the convict was arrested from the LengpuiAirport here eight days later. PTI HCV KKRC.
