London, Oct 13 (PTI) Young men's 'bromances' - closefriendships with other men - are more emotionally satisfyingthan their romantic relationships with women, a study hasfound.

Researchers from University of Winchester in the UKinterviewed 30 undergraduate straight men.

They found that the men felt less judged by their closemale friends than by their girlfriends.

It was also easier for men to overcome conflicts andexpress their emotions in their bromances than in theirromances.

The study, published in the journal Men andMasculinities, suggest that the rise in bromances can berecognised as a progressive development in the relationsbetween men, but they also wrote that this progress maynegatively affect heterosexual relations.

For example, researchers suggested that strong bromancescould challenge traditional domestic living arrangementsbetween men and women. PTI MHN SARMHN.
