Mumbai, Oct 13 (PTI) The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) today approached the Konkan divisional commissioneropposing the move by some of its corporators to registerthemselves as a separate unit.

As per the post election procedure, every party has toregister itself as a group with a list of corporators with thedivisional commissioner.

MNS won seven seats in the Brihanmumbai MunicipalCorporation (BMC) election held in February. The party alongwith the elected corporators was registered with the Konkandivisional commissioner.

Sources in MNS as well as BJP MP Kirit Somaiyyaclaimed that six MNS corporators have decided to defect fromMNS and form a separate group to support ruling Shiv Sena.

This would strengthen Shiv Sena's position in BMC,which has been under pressure from BJP -— the party having fewcorporators less than the ruling party.

MNS general secretary Shirish Sawant today wrote aletter to Konkan divisional commissioner urging to give MNS ahearing before taking any decision on the six corporators'letter.

Sawant has also written a letter to anti-corruptionbureau requesting an investigation of the six corporators'assets and its source.

He has claimed that the six corporators have beenlured with promises; hence a thorough investigation should becarried out, Sawant said in his letter. PTI NDRMT.
