Nashik, Oct 13 (PTI) A 71-year-old inmate of theNashik Central Jail allegedly hanged himself with a bed-sheetin the toilet in the wee hours today, the police said.
The deceased Mohangiri Guruji Dayagiri alias GautamJoshi was serving a life term for murder since 2004. Hebelonged to Avahan Akhada in Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the toilet used by Joshi issituated on the premises of the jail hospital.
An investigating officer of the Nshik Road policestation said Joshi didn't leave behind any suicide note.
"We are probing the circumstances in which he killedhimself," he said.
Police have registered a case of accidental death andsent Joshi's body for postmortem. PTI CORRNSK.
