(Eds: changing slug)By Sajjad HussainIslamabad, Oct 13 (PTI) UK Army Chief General NicholasPatrick Carter today met Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwaand discussed ways to strengthen bilateral security anddefence cooperation between the two forces.

General Carter arrived here on a two-day official visitto the country went to Pakistan Army Headquarters inRawalpindi and called on General Bajwa, the Army said in astatement.

"Matters of mutual interest including strengthening ofbilateral security and defence cooperation between the twoArmies were discussed during the meeting," it said.

Acknowledging Pakistan Army's achievements in fightagainst terrorism and continued efforts for peace andstability in the region, General Carter said that UK greatlyappreciates Pakistan's sacrifices in this regard, thestatement said.

Earlier, the UK Army's Chief of General Staff laid awreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada after arriving at the ArmyHeadquarters.

General Carter, who was given the guard of honour by acontingent of Pakistan Army, also addressed participants ofthe National Security and War Course at the National DefenceUniversity. PTI SH SMJ AKJSMJ.
