By Gurdip SinghSingapore, Oct 13 (PTI) More than one million Indiansvisited Singapore last year, making it their top touristdestination in South East Asia.

A total of 1,009,931 Indian tourists visited the CityState in 2016, up from 623,391 in 2009, according to data fromMastercard Global Destinations Cities Index 2017.

Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur were the second and thirdholiday destinations on the list.

The number of Indian visitors to Bangkok increased to795,972 last year from 657,532 in 2009.

However, Indian arrivals to Kuala Lumpur dropped to717,341 visitors in 2016 from 946,752 in 2009.

The Malaysian capital city was the number one city forIndian travelers in 2009.

Commenting on the increase in Indian travelers,Mastercard Advisors Senior Vice President Eric F.Schneidersaid India was emerging as a top origin country, particularlyfor Southeast Asia destinations. PTI GS CHTCHT.
