Chennai, Oct 13 (PTI) Tamil actor N Santhanam was todaygranted pre-arrest bail in connection with a case against himfor allegedly assaulting a city-based builder.
Justice N Audhinathan, who granted the relief, saidSanthanam can be released on bail in the event of arrest, onhis executing a personal bond for Rs 25,000 with two suretieseach for a like sum.
He should appear before the Valasaravakkam policestation daily for two weeks, the judge added.
Earlier, the judge was informed that advocate PremAnand, who was also allegedly attacked by the actor, wastaking treatment in a private hospital.
According to the actor, he had given money forconstruction of a building to one Shanmugasundaram. But thelatter neither started construction nor returned the moneydespite repeated reminders, he said.
On October 9, the man invited him for settlementtalks.
When the talks were going on at the builder's office,Shanmugasundaram and his associates attacked him and causedinjuries to him, the actor alleged.
He said he lodged a complaint with the police againstShanmugasundaram and his associates.
Shanmugasundaram also filed a counter-complaint againstthe actor and the police registered a case under various IPCsections including 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerousweapons or means).
According to Shanmugasundaram's complaint, he wasattacked by Santhanam and threatened with dire consequences.
