Peshawar, Oct 13 (PTI) The Pakistan Taliban today claimedthe responsibility for the killing of a journalist in unrulyKhyber Pakhtunkhwa province, saying he was spying for thegovernment.

Haroor Khan, who was associated with Mashriq TV and DailyAkhbar-e-Khyber, was shot dead last evening by unidentifiedpersons. He was buried today in his ancestral graveyard inSwabi.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman MuhammadKhurasani, in a Whatsapp message to local media, said thatTTP's special squad, STF, killed the journalist for spying.

He claimed that the slain journalist was working for thesecret agency, sometimes in the shape of running a medicalstore and some time as journalist.

"We have time and again warned the journalists to avoidsiding with government. Anyone one cooperating with the Armyor the government will be our target like Haroon Khan," theTTP said in the message.

Meanwhile, the slain journalist's brother, Manzoor Alilogded an FIR against his step-brother Muhammad Ali and histwo sons -- Jawad Khan and Ammad Khan, stating that landdispute was the reason behind the murder of his journalistbrother.

Also, local journalists and members of various politicaland social organisations today took out a rally and protestedoutside the DC office and also blocked the road for all kindof traffic. PTI CORRSMJ.
