Shimla, Oct 13 (PTI) Himachal Chief Minister VirbhadraSingh today lauded the Army's 'Sadbhavana' mission and said itwas a useful tool in building a positive image of securityforces.

"It is a good approach to rebuild socio-economic life ofpeople as such educational tours not only help in providingexposure, but also contribute towards acquainting with thecultural diversity of various regions," he said.

The senior Congress leader said such gestures also helpin winning over alienated sections of the society,particularly in the conflict zones.

He said the Army's presence and assistance have positiveimpact on the minds of the local population.

Singh was interacting with a delegation of 22 farmers andnine officers of Rajputana Regiment of Indian Army.

The Army under its recent 'Sadbhavana' project conducteda Capacity Building Tour (CBT) to assist the farmers of remoteborder villages of Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir inunderstanding modern techniques of farming and horticulture.

As part of the project, the farmers were taken to theAgriculture University Palampur, Horticulture University Nauniand to an agriculture research institute in Shimla.

The Army's Northern Command had launched 'OperationSadbhavana' in 1998 to extend a helping hand in rebuilding thesocio-economic life of the people. PTI PCLSRY.
