Paris, Jan 13 (AP) Three suspects in the bold jewelryrobbery that took place on the ground floor of Paris' RitzHotel have been handed preliminary charges.
A judicial official said today that the three were jailedand put under investigation for organised armed robbery withthreats and voluntary violence with arms in a group, amongother charges.
The official wasn't authorised to speak publicly andcouldn't be named.
Two alleged accomplices escaped after the Wednesdayevening heist. Authorities have said they recovered all thestolen merchandise, which had an estimated value of about 4.5million euros (USD 5.4 million).
According to police accounts, the three entered a servicedoor, smashed jewelry stands with axes and threw bags of itemsout a window to accomplices who fled in a car and on ascooter. (AP)MRJ.
