London, Jan 14 (AFP) Chelsea did little to take thespotlight away from under-fire manager Antonio Conte in agoalless draw with Leicester City while Harry Kane brokeanother record after a brace in Tottenham's 4-0 hammering ofEverton.

Chelsea were unable to pierce Leicester's defence andwere second-best for long periods at Stamford Bridge, evenafter visiting left-back Ben Chilwell was sent off for asecond bookable offence midway through the second half.

The stalemate left the third-placed Blues 15 pointsadrift of runaway leaders Manchester City, who play Liverpoolon Sunday.

"I think we played with a lot of top players againstArsenal (in the goalless League Cup semi-final first leg), andthen again today against a very good team," Conte, who hasbeen rumoured for a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, told the BBC.

- Kane record - =============== Saturday's late kick-off saw Tottenham forward Kane scorehis 98th Premier League goal and surpass Teddy Sheringham'sprevious club record of 97 with his double against Everton atWembley.

Son Heung-Min broke the deadlock midway through the firsthalf and Kane made it 2-0 in the 47th minute after anexcellent run and cross from Son, despite a suspicion ofoffside.

That goal saw Kane equal Sheringham's tally and theEngland striker broke it 12 minutes later when he prodded theball past Jordan Pickford from close range.

Christian Eriksen completed the scoring nine minutes fromtime when he finished a sweeping move.

Alan Pardew oversaw his first Premier League victory asWest Bromich Albion manager thanks to a 2-0 win over Brighton, while Rafael Benitez's Newcastle came from behind to draw 1-1with bottom-of-the-table Swansea City as the battle to avoidrelegation intensified.

West Brom, who kicked off level on points with Swansea, needed just four minutes to take the lead at The Hawthornswhen Jonny Evans headed in from a corner.

Craig Dawson secured their first league win since August19 in the 56th minute with a fine header.

The Baggies remain in the relegation zone, as do Swansea, who took the lead at Newcastle through Jordan Ayew on the hourwhen he nodded in a rebound after an initial header wasblocked.

Substitute Joselu equalised 10 minutes later for thehosts with virtually his first touch of the game.

James Ward-Prowse scored his first two goals of thePremier League season for Southampton but that wasn't enoughto give the Saints a desperately-needed win as hosts Watfordrallied to draw 2-2.

- Taylor remembered - ===================== Vicarage Road was even more brightly bedecked in theclub's yellow colours than usual as Hornets fans marked thefirst anniversary of the passing of their celebrated formermanager and ex-England boss Graham Taylor.

But despite the highly-charged atmosphere, it wasSouthampton who broke the deadlock thanks to Ward-Prowse's lowstrike in the 20th minute.

Ward-Prowse, on target in last weekend's 1-0 win FA Cupvictory over Fulham, doubled the Saints' lead shortly beforehalf-time after he was unselfishly played in by Dusan Tadic.

Watford pulled a goal back through an Andre Gray headerand then equalised in controversial fashion right at thefinish when Abdoulaye Doucoure turned in a Troy Deeney flick-on.

Doucoure turned the ball in with his hand as he stoopedfor a header but, with no video assistant referees in thePremier League, the goal stood and denied Southampton a firstleague win in 10 games.

"I never see this type of mistake in the Premier Leaguebefore," said Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino.

"To live this injustice is really hard. I think we haveto try (VAR)." Crystal Palace's Bakary Sako scored the only goal of thegame in the 21st minute as Roy Hodgson's Eagles saw offBurnley 1-0 at Selhurst Park, while West Ham overpoweredHuddersfield Town 4-1.

Moyes's men opened the scoring at Huddersfield in the25th minute when Town's Joe Lolley was dispossessed, with MarkNoble advancing into the area before unleashing a powerfulshot.

But Lolley atoned five minutes before the break bydrawing the visitors level after he curled a shot into the farcorner.

West Ham regained soon after the break when MarkoArnautovic, straight from the kick off, hooked the ball pastTommy Smith and shot home.

Manuel Lanzini made it 3-1 before scoring his second andthe Hammers' fourth in the 61st minute.

Sunday sees Arsenal away to Bournemouth while ManchesterUnited, second but still 15 points behind Manchester City, face managerless Stoke at Old Trafford on Monday. (AFP) ATAT.
