Bangkok, Jan 14 (AP) A speedboat carrying touristsbetween islands in Thailand's south caught fire today,injuring at least 16 people on board, most of them Chinese,police said.
The boat was traveling between Phuket island and Phi Phiisland with 31 people on board when it caught fire, sendingpassengers jumping into the water, said Police Lt SantipotNguanruang of the Phi Phi island police station.
People on nearby boats pulled them from the water, hesaid.
The injured included 14 passengers from China and twoThai crew members, Santipot said.
Both Phuket and Phi Phi islands are major touristdestinations in Thailand's south. Tourism is a major revenueearner for Thailand, which hosted an estimated 35 millionvisitors last year. (AP)KIS.
