New Madrid (US), Jan 22 (AP) A southeast Missouri man hasbeen sentenced to life in prison without parole for stranglinghis mother with a dog leash and burning a car with her bodyand two dogs inside.

Twenty-nine-year-old Neil Howland Jr. also was sentencedFriday to four years each on five other charges, for a totalsentence of 120 years.

The Southeast Missourian reports that during thesentencing hearing, a judge ordered deputies to duct tapeHowland's mouth closed after he would not stop interruptingthe victim's husband, who was making a victim impactstatement.

Howland was convicted of killing his mother, CynthiaCanoy, in August 2013 at her Scott City home. He then put herbody and her two pet dogs into a car, drove into a cornfieldand burned the vehicle. (AP)CPS.
