Barbara Luz of Portugal defeated second seed Prerna Bhambri of India 6-3, 6-3 to storm into the singles semifinals of the JHIC-ITF women’s Pro Circuit tennis tournament at JHIC courts on Thursday. Top seed Rishika Sankara also bowed out when she conceded her quarterfinal match to Naparsakom Sankaew of Thailand. After winning the first set at 6-0, she trailed 1-4 before she conceded the match.
Nidhi Chilumula rallied to oust Natasha Palha 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, while third seed Ankita Raina came from behind to beat Prarthna Thombre 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
