CHENNAI: The city’s Indian Super League team will be called Chennaiyin FC, it was revealed on Wednesday. Though earlier reports had indicated that the team would be called Chennai Titans, TNIE had earlier reported that the owners were yet to decide on a name for their franchise. They have now finally settled on ‘Chennaiyin FC’ after their bid to name the team ‘Chennai FC’ was thwarted as a club with the same name was already registered with the Tamil Nadu Football Association.Meanwhile, a marquee player will be confirmed within two days, with Chennaiyin officials setting sights on two players from Brazil. Reports also emerged that Romanian record goal-scorer and former Chelsea star Adrian Mutu had agreed a three-month loan with the Chennai outfit, but the team officials refused to confirm the deal.
