CHENNAI: RBI defeated Southern Railway 3-1 in a St Joseph’s-Chennai Football Association senior division league match at JN Stadium here on Thursday.

Results: Senior division: RBI 3 (Mukeshwaran 8, Vijay 20, Ram Kumar 90+1) bt Southern Railway 1 (Pradeep 59). MoM: R Shivapriyan (RBI central defender).

First division: SAI 3 (Bibetta 70, 77, Vijayan 62) bt YMSC 1 (Vijay 15).

Hemanth Guides Velammal B to Win

V Hemanth Ram’s unbeaten 46 helped Velammal Pancheti B beat Velammal Pancheti A by six wickets in the final of the TNCA-TDCA U-16 inter-school tournament.

Brief scores: Velammal Pancheti A 102/8 in 30 ovs (S Samkit 29) lost to Velammal Pancheti B 103/4 in 22.1 ovs (Sibi Felix 27, V Hemanth Ram 46 no, S Santhosh Kumar 3-27).

SRM Champs in University Tennis

SRM University beat  VIT University 2-0 in the men’s final of the Tamil Nadu inter-deemed university tennis tournament. Professor JSN Murthy, vice chancellor of Sri Ramachandra University, gave away the prizes. Hindustan University finished third. SRM University won the women’s title as well, followed by Karunya and Sri Ramachandra University.
