PUNE: A goalkeeping howler from Shilton Paul helped bottom-placed Bharat FC stun leaders Mohun Bagan 1-0 in an I-League match.

Fight for the title heated up with Mohun Bagan’s lead slashed to a single point after the 16th round. They remained on 32, just ahead of Bengaluru FC (31). Bharat FC improved a rung, eclipsing Sporting Clube De Goa (14) to 10th with 15 points.

Subash Singh scored an opportunistic strike which earned him the Man-of-the-Match award. The moment came when Shilton’s attempt to clear from inside the box hit Subash on the back and deflected into the goal.

The hosts were quicker off the blocks building promising attacks but lost composure in front of the penalty box against an  organised backline. But they enjoyed control in midfield.
