KOCHI | THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The successful conduct of the 35th National Games has fetched Kerala a handsome reward. The 12th South Asian (SAF) Games have been allotted to the state. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) in New Delhi on Tuesday. “Kerala has been allotted the Games. It will be Thiruvananthapuram-based but there will be a few other venues also,” Kerala Olympic Association (KOA) secretary PA Hamza told Express.

It is learnt that Assam, who were the first-choice for the Games, withdrew citing under-preparedness to host the event. Though the exact schedule is yet to be finalised, the event is expected to be held in the November-December window. The University Stadium in the state capital is expected to host athletics.
