Record-man Kohli Stars in the Bullring

India finished with 255 for 5 at the end of the opening day's play in the first Test against South Africa at the Wanderers, Wednesday.

Here are some of the statistical highlights of the match:

Virat Kohli (119) recorded his fifth Test hundred in his 21st Test.

Kohli's century was his first Test ton against South Africa.

The hundred was also Kohli's sixth in 2013. With this he equalled Shikhar Dhawan and AB de Villiers' record of scoring most hundreds in 2013.

Kohli's century was also his second outside India.

The Indian vice-captain's knock is now the highest by an Indian in the first innings against South Africa. Virender Sehwag (105) held the record since 2001-02.

Apart from Kohli and Sehwag, Pravin Amre (103) is the only other Indian to score a hundred in his first appearance against South Africa.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is leading the Indian team for the 50th time in Tests. He is the first Indian and 14th player to do so. He is also the first wicket-keeper/captain to appear in 50 Tests.
