Yuvraj Singh made a comeback to the Indian team as the selectors Monday picked him in the 15-member squad for the Australia series next month.

The southpaw who has worked hard on his fitness has been included in the squad for the lone T20 International and the first three ODIs against Australia starting October 10.

The left-hander played the last of his 282 ODIs against England in January and has subsequently seen Dinesh Karthik take his place in the middle-order. He sizzled with a string of strong and impressive shows against the West Indies A with 224 runs from three matches, including a century and a fifty at an average of 74.66. Yuvraj scored a fifty for India Blue in the recently concluded Challenger Trophy.

India will play one Twenty20 and seven ODIs against Australia. But selectors decided to pick the squad only for the Twenty20 and first three ODIs. Meanwhile, Karthik, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Umesh Yadav do not feature in the squad.

The Twenty20 will be played in Rajkot, Oct 10. The first three ODIs will be hosted in Pune (Oct 13), Jaipur (Oct 16), and Mohali (Oct 19).

India squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammed Shami, Jaydev Unadkat.
