Aparajith Clinches Cricketer of the Year Award

B Aparajith of Vijay CC was adjudged the cricketer of the year and bagged the prestigious Bishnuram Medhi Trophy at the 84th Annual Day Celebrations of the TNCA.

CHENNAI: B Aparajith of Vijay CC was adjudged the cricketer of the year and bagged the prestigious Bishnuram Medhi Trophy at the 84th Annual Day Celebrations of the TNCA.

Aparajith also got the NN Suvarna Memorial trophy for having the highest aggregate in the Ranji Trophy. His twin brother B Indrajith, who studies at Gurunanak College, was named the collegiate cricketer of the year.

The Jolly Rovers Cricket Club team that won the Senior Division league was awarded the Raja of Palayampatti shield, a symbol of pride in the TNCA league. Upcoming youngster M Siddharth of Don Bosco, Egmore, got the School Cricketer of the Year award and also the C Subramaniam trophy. Malolan Rangarajan secured the best bowler in the Ranji Trophy award, while D Hemalatha got the women’s cricketer of the year award for her consistent show last season.

Srinivasan Set to be Re-elected

Elections will be a mere formality at the TNCA AGM, to be held on Sunday. There is no contest for any of the posts and all the current office bearers will automatically be re-elected. As per the norm of the TNCA , the president of the association is nominated on the floor of the house at the AGM and N Srinivasan, the sitting president, is certain to be elected again unopposed.

Apart from passing of the accounts, the other important matter for debate will be  the change in rules and format of the Senior Division league.
