Vignesh's Fifer Helps Vijay CC Dominate Alwarpet

L Vignesh’s 5-67 helped Vijay CC restrict Alwarpet CC to 323 in 100.3 overs on the second day of the semifinals of the Senior Division league of the TNCA at MA Chidambaram stadium here on Monday.

Resuming at 280 for 4, Alwarpet lost six wickets for the addition of just 43 runs. Vijay CC, riding on R Rohith’s unbeaten century (110 n.o) replied strongly and were comfortably placed at 252/1 in 72 overs at stumps.

This was Rohith’s first century of the season and it came at the right time. Rohith was involved in two century partnerships. For the first wicket with Abhinav Mukund (74) he added 131 runs in 40.4 overs. And for the unfinished second wicket he and Badrinath have so far raised 107 runs 25.2 overs.

Arun Karthik to Lead TN

KB Arun Karthik of Vijay CC will lead the Tamil Nadu state team to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy South Zone T-20 tournament, to be held at Visakhapatnam from April 1 to 5.The TN selectors keeping the format in mind have taken a bold decision and gone in for a young side. Dinesh Karthik is the only senior player in the side. M urali Vijay was not considered due to an injury.

Selection Trials at Joseph’s Colleges

Selection trials for the sports quota admission at St Joseph’s College of Engineering, and St Joseph’s Institute of Technology, Chennai will be conducted at Sports Village in the campus on April 5 at 8 am.

Achievements in state level/ national level competitions will be the eligibility criteria for the participation in the selection trials, besides academic qualifications and fulfilment of eligibility fixed by the University norms.
